Volunteer with Hands On Greater Portland and Portland Parks and Recreation
Join Hands On Greater Portland, Portland Parks & Recreation and other community members to plant native trees and wildflowers on Clatsop Butte in East Portland this Saturday, January 14! The planting will increase wildlife habitat by providing food and shelter for birds and other animals. Here’s more on the project to restore the butte:

MLK Volunteer Opportunity
Join other volunteers as they make love letters for family caregivers who devote their lives, energy, and compassion to the dedicated care of loved ones with special needs, terminal illnesses, or other disabilities, often with little or no support or recognition. The ‘love letters” we craft with the skilled guidance of a professional papercraft instructor, will be to family caregivers and other devoted volunteers for Valentine’s Day.
The Family Caregiver Support Program helps non-paid family caregivers who are seeking relief from the demands of caregiving by providing emotional support, stipends, educational classes information, and access to other programs. For information on this program, or to learn how you can contribute, or participate, please contact Mary Ann Hard, (503) 650-5724.

So, how do you quantify a place’s story, and what can you do with it?
