Samantha Nelson has been appointed the permanent city manager by the Fairview City Council.

Nelson, who has been the city’s finance director since 2008, assumed her new job Friday. Her appointment runs through Sept. 28, when the council will decide the next steps to fill the position permanently.

Prior to her job at Fairview, she served as the finance director of the city of Independence. She has a bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon University, and master’s in business administration from Willamette University.
