The Job

Clackamas County’s Department of Public & Government Affairs (PGA) is seeking an experienced, organized and motivated communications professional to join our team as the Public Involvement Outreach Specialist. The incumbent will manage PGA’s Public Involvement Program by acting as liaison and point-of-contact for county recognized and supported advisory boards and commissions, Community Planning Organizations and the Hamlets and Villages.

In addition, the Public Involvement Outreach Specialist will focus on facilitating two-way dialog between these groups and Clackamas County staff and the Board of County Commissioners. The individual selected for this role will need to have excellent skills and experience working with the public, including addressing sensitive or complex community issues.

This position will also support the PGA team by implementing strategic communication plans, writing, editing and reviewing scripts, press releases, talking points, social media postings, and will support and implement the department social media strategies and tools. This position will help plan, coordinate and attend county events and will coordinate the county youth outreach program.

Salary: $52,040 – $65,942 a year
