The Community

Morro Bay, one of seven friendly cities in San Luis Obispo (SLO) County, sits on the amazing Central Coast of California. The Position

morro bay city hallOur new Finance Director (FD) will be part accountant, part CFO and part expert communicator. Re-forming and leading a finance staff of five, the FD must be equally comfortable tracking weekly budget performance, crafting expert alternatives and analysis for major financial decisions, and communicating all of this to everyone, everywhere, in a manner easily understandable to the layman.

While California municipal finance experience is certainly a plus, the City Manager is far more interested in intellect, precision, communication, innovation and dedication to excellence. Compensation

The City is offering a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary Range is $115,000 – $140,000, DOQ. See brochure for full list including CALPERS retirement.

 

Hiring Process

Our current Admin Services Director departs for retirement around November 1, 2016 and the City Manager intends to have a full two months of overlap with the incoming Finance Director. We plan for our new finance wizard to start work around August 29th , if not earlier.
