The City

The City of Gresham, Oregon is inviting seasoned law enforcement professionals to apply for the position of Police Chief.  The City of Gresham is a dynamic, diverse community sharing an eastside border with Portland and serves as a gateway to the Mount Hood National Forest and the Columbia River Gorge, both less than an hour drive away.  The City of Gresham is Oregon’s fourth largest city in the state with 105,000 citizens.

The Gresham Police Department (GPD) is a full service police department of 159 members, 127 of which are sworn officers. The next successful Police Chief will serve as a visionary leader to a highly respected and talented group of command staff, police officers and civilian staff.  The Chief will be in a highly visible position interacting with the community and the regional law enforcement community comprising the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area.

The Police Chief position requires progressively responsible police experience with prior management experience, training and/or education combination.  A bachelor’s or Master’s degree is preferred.  Must be currently certified as a Police Officer or obtain certification no later than 18 months after accepting employment as well as obtain a management certification from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training within two years of accepting employment.

The salary range is $119,560 – $155,424, DOQ in addition to a generous benefit package.
