What Works Cities (WWC) is changing local government. You’ve heard about their impact during a GovLove interview in 2016 and when WWC claimed the top spot in the ELGL Choice Award rankings. WWC returns with more exciting news.
Bloomberg Philanthropies’ What Works Cities initiative recently launched a new certification program that will publicly recognize the cities most effectively using data and evidence to improve outcomes for their residents. Like a Good Housekeeping Seal or ENERGY STAR rating for data-driven governance, What Works Cities Certification will provide cities with a new, rigorous benchmark against which to assess their own practices and serve as a roadmap to improve the effectiveness of their governments.
Certification is open to any U.S. city with a population above 30,000. We urge you to encourage your city leaders to take a minute to express interest in the program before the May 1 deadline by visiting whatworkscities.bloomberg.org/
