The City of Cannon Beach is currently recruiting for its next City Manager. Compensation is $115,000 to $130,000 (DOQ), plus housing allowance and excellent benefits. Cannon Beach (population 1,710) is one of Oregon’s most popular tourist destinations due to its unparalleled beaches, thriving arts community, boutique stores, quality restaurants and brewpubs, and boundless recreation opportunities. Cannon Beach is a close-knit coastal village whose residents care deeply about their community. Volunteerism and public involvement are hallmarks of the town, with strong support for local non-profit organizations, an ethos of environmental stewardship, and robust participation in public policy development processes.
The Council seeks a City Manager with strong management and leadership skills who is proficient in all aspects of municipal government operations. A genuine appreciation for the community and a commitment to active involvement is essential. Well-developed consensus-building and communication skills are vital, and experience working closely and successfully with elected officials is highly desirable.
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field, and at least five (5) years of upper-level local government management experience is required. An advanced degree in Public Administration or a related field, and at least eight (8) years of city management experience, including in small, tourism-dependent communities with significant seasonal population changes, is preferred. ICMA credentialing is also preferred.
