Appointed by the City Council, the city manager serves as the chief administrative officer, who implements council policies, provides organizational leadership for department directors and employees and oversees the day-to-day business of government operations.

Those operations include the departments of Public Works, Police, Parks and Recreation, Planning and Building Safety, Human Resources, Library and Museum Services, City Clerk, Finance, Information Technology, and Economic Development.
