The City of Novi’s infrastructure includes 183 miles of streets, 13,530 water service connections, 304 vehicles, and 256 miles of pathways. As DPS Director, you will lead and inspire team members who focus on the engineering, operations, and maintenance of Novi’s infrastructure to help the City stay sustainable and competitive in the region for years to come.
Leading the second largest department, DPS is comprised of more than 50 full-time employees across four divisions: Engineering, Water & Sewer, Field Operations, and Fleet Maintenance. You will lead your team using optimal decision making strategies and collaboration to motivate and challenge your team; a professional, forward-thinker who encourages ideas and can build consensus while accomplishing desired outcomes in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Working directly with City department heads, City officials, and the general public, you will advise and support internal and external stakeholders to assist in the achievement of City goals.
Novi is conveniently located at the crossroads of four freeways and is home to approximately 60,000 residents. Your office is in the soon-to-be renovated and expanded Field Services Complex. Common and accepted Engineering practices is a desirable trait for the future DPS director.
Five -ten years + experience managing similar public works or civil engineering department or division. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Civil Engineering or related field of study;
Advanced degree in engineering or management (e.g., MPA, MBA) preferred but not required; State of Michigan Vehicle Operator License required; Hiring Salary Range: $86,500 – $110,000 DOQ.
