Paul Gerhardt, Jr. Internship Announcement: Summer 2012

The Gerhardt Internship was established in 1986 to commemorate the life and work of 1000 Friends’ first planner, Paul Gerhardt, Jr. The purpose of the internship is to provide an opportunity for on-the-job experience for planning students or those in similar fields, especially for those interested in public service.

This position is for Summer 2012, 35 hours per week for 10 weeks at 1000 Friends’ Portland office, with a stiped of $4,500 provided.

The criteria used in selecting the intern include academic excellence, demonstrated interest in public service, evidence of initiative, and the ability to work independently. Preference will be given to undergraduates majoring in planning or a related field and graduates who have not yet begun graduate school. However, students in graduate school will be considered. Law students are specifically excluded.

Complete applications, including reference letters, must be received by Monday, February 20, 2012. The intern will be selected by Monday, March 19, and will be notified by phone shortly thereafter.
