What was the very first paying job you held (that you paid taxes on)? 

Carson’s (the department store) in accessories

What was your: undergraduate institution? Graduate institution? What was/were your degree(s) in? 

NIU- Accountancy, MPA, (also a CPA)

What class(es) (if any) are applicable to your job today? 

My master’s classes, none of my accounting, as GASB 34 was being implemented and I had a handwritten manuscript as a book.

Do you have a work or life motto? What is it? 

None

What book are you currently reading? Would you recommend it? 

I am starting the Passage next week, should be done by the 26th.

Other than ELGL – do you belong to any other professional associations? Which one(s)? 

Illinois Government Finance Officers Association (Past President, Currently GFOA State Rep), Government Finance Officers Association, Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, Illinois CPA Society

What’s the best networking advice for job seekers you’ve heard or shared? 

Network with everyone you know, they may be part of your career later in life.

What’s the fastest way to NOT get a job or internship with you? (e.g. what should potential applicants avoid doing if they were to ever interview with you for a position). 

Not knowing about the community you are applying at, with robust website, data and information is in abundance.

Why should an undergraduate student consider a career working in local government?

A career in government will allow you to help a community grow.
