There are some lovely town halls and other council buildings out there. Some are steeped in history, some are pretty much brand new. But it’s about more than just the building: we want to join ELGL in celebrating local government and the important work that it does. Councils across the country run the services that have a daily impact on people’s lives, that help shape the places we live and work.
To participate, people are asked to stop and take a selfie in front of their city hall (or government building like a courthouse, county office, district office, etc.), post it to social media on August 15, and tag it with #CityHallSelfie. People can also tag Macon-Bibb County in those posts. (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)”We have great civic facilities in Macon-Bibb, from Government Center to the Auditorium to the County Courthouse, and even some that are actually historic, like the Terminal Station and Luther Williams Field,” says Chris Floore with the Office of Public Affairs. “This is a chance to show the world our beautiful civic architecture, as well as our newer facilities that have undergone significant improvements, like our recreation centers.
