The Position: The Phoenix Urban Renewal Agency (PHURA) is seeking an experienced individual to serve as full time Executive Director. The Executive Director directs the activities of the urban renewal program; manages and is responsible for all Agency assets including preparing the annual budget; serves as project manager on critical, high profile projects directing the work of other staff as well as the work of external consultants; and has an advanced understanding of physical project development, development planning, financial fundamentals and contract management.
Key performance areas include serving as chief financial officer; preparing reports and recommendations on projects; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and urban renewal “best practices”; coordinating project development activities; negotiating agreements, supervising contracts and maintaining project cost control; and coordinating with contractors, architects, engineers, developers, and other public entities.
