Streamlining Digital Engagement Cohort – Apply by June 14!

Local government communications teams are trying to increase community engagement but find themselves increasingly overworked and under-resourced. Instead of making our lives easier, the wrong approach to digital engagement can result in lost productivity and effectiveness.

A common mistake is confusing the measures that actually matter with superficial metrics that do not tell the full story about engagement. One-way communications are no longer enough: instead, well-deployed communications should go beyond informing and actually empower community members. When we reach true citizen empowerment, the result is reduced burden on city and county employees, freeing teams up to spend more time on long-term strategy, new projects, and building trust.

Participants will come away from this program with a mapped workflow of their organization’s communications and engagement processes, as well as key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure impact and effectiveness.

Throughout this cohort, participants will:

  • Learn how effective communication can go beyond one-way messaging and drive constructive responses and action by community members, while driving efficiencies for the staff.
  • Evaluate current methods of engagement that are labor intensive but not yielding the expected results when it comes to community engagement
  • Develop an initial communication workflow/process map to solve for a current problem in their local community focused
  • Building on the initial plan, map out a multi-channel action plan to better engage their local citizens, including KPIs that showcase the organization’s work and focus areas
  • Over 3 lab sessions, build a process map and set of KPIs for their local needs

This cohort is geared towards local government communication professionals who are interested in optimizing their digital community engagement strategy.
