The Portland Police Sunshine Division is in need of volunteers to help deliver food boxes this Saturday, June 22nd. The Sunshine Division delivers emergency food boxes and clothing to Portland families and individuals in need. This Saturday they need help delivering over 1,000 food boxes to school age children in Portland. This is part of an annual program called Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation, highlighting the fact that children who get free or reduced lunch during the school year are still in need of assistance during the summer months when school isn’t in session.
The Sunshine Division is looking for around 200 volunteer drivers to distribute boxes. Drivers can take as many or as few boxes as they want. Delivery begins at 9am and typically concludes by noon. Volunteers will start the day at either the Sunshine Division Warehouse, or the North Precinct.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact Kris Padden, volunteer coordinator with the Sunshine Division, at [email protected] or (503) 823-2176.
