Thank you to everyone who reacted so kindly to last week’s post about me becoming ELGL’s executive director. It was great to hear the sentiments that a focus on ELGL will help the organization grow and thrive, and most importantly – meet our mission of connecting, communicating and educating about local government.

There were a few questions that came up – here they are, and my answers:

  • Is ELGL paying you? Nope. ELGL is still 100% volunteer run.
  • Are my dues going to increase because ELGL has an executive director now? Nope. Affordability and access are still ELGL core values and that will never change.
  • Did you create ELGL  just so you could give yourself a job? If I knew six years ago when we created ELGL that it could turn into an executive director job, I would have used my prognostication skills in the stock market, or at least in the sports book.

Here’s your Sunday column with an overview of what we’ve accomplished in the prior week. If you have any questions, please email me or tweet at me. Fun fact – I’m reporting to you from the deck in Sunriver, Oregon. We’re spending Memorial Day weekend in the high desert.
