As part of the grueling ELGL initiation process, new members are asked to complete our version of the Wonderlic test. It’s an open book test and participants do not have to use a dull number 2 pencil to fill in tiny circles.

In the last 60 days, my best accomplishment was…

Moving. I recently relocated for a new position and I’ve found that every move has its own unique set of challenges, including this one recently.

I joined ELGL because…..

I like to see what other public administrators are working on to help serve the public interest in other cities and towns throughout the country. I think that in our field, to be successful you must be willing to commit to continuous learning. I think that ELGL provides its members an opportunity to learn about ways to better the communities in which they serve.

One thing I remember from elementary is…

History class was always my favorite subject.

On my way to work, I am thinking…

What’s on the agenda today? What do I need to complete for today to be a successful day? What tasks take priority and what can wait until the higher priorities are completed?

I am a huge sports fan and so I am anxiously awaiting the start of college football season. War Eagle!

Do you agree/disagree with the following statement(s)……Explain….

The public should not have to pay for public record requests.

I don’t have an issue with a reasonable fee for public records, such as $0.10 or $0.25 per page for printed records. After all, the city does have to pay for the paper to print the records on, but the public should not have to pay outrageous sums of money.

My neighbor understands services provided by local government.

Some do and some don’t. I’m a firm believer that it is up to local government employees to help educate the public on what it is that we do and to help them to understand why what we do on a day-to-day basis is important.

Formal coaching/mentoring programs are worthwhile.

Formal coaching and mentoring is great, but I’m of the opinion that informal coaching and mentoring can be just as worthwhile in the long run.

I have a landline telephone.

Only in the office. Does anyone still use one at home?
