Dear City of Scottsdale, AZ-
As a representative of the 2018 recipients of the prestigious Cartegraph + ELGL Clarity Award, I am writing you today with congratulations. Government frequently does good things, but its also important that we share those stories in clear, meaningful ways. Your story this year was inspirational.
So congratulations on winning the award, but there is also great responsibility. You have some marching orders over the next year.
You see, the Clarity Award is the Stanley Cup of local government. It is an award that transcends the trophy cabinet. It’s meant to be enjoyed, shared, and travel the country over the next year. Everyone from your agency should enjoy their own day with its glory. It should be involved in shenanigans.
Last year’s shenanigans started strong in Golden, CO. The award traveled to the local events, and was photographed with many ELGL attendees and in many places.

At one point, it was stolen, causing a great panic in our own Steve Fritz. But it wasn’t a theft… just more shenanigans!
Clearly the award needed to be chained to Steve’s neck. And clearly, it needed to be a chain worthy of Flavor Flav. So with access to a laser cutter and a few things from Amazon, we created the ultra secure, ultra fashionable Clarity Necklace.
I bet you wish you ALSO had this gorgeous necklace I borrowed from @mskibbe: pic.twitter.com/2No99pBEQi

With the Three Norsemen of the Datapocalypse, the award also made an appearance when we presented at the Cartegraph National Convention this past year as these three handsome gentlemen.
We had a lot of fun, and raised a lot of awareness for clarity in local government. Now we’re passing the torch and eager to watch your escapades.
Be proud. Be dynamic. Be kind.
All the best,
Mike Skibbe
