ELGL Forum with Ken Allen, Oregon AFSCME Exec. Dir.

Please join us on November 14, 2012 for an ELGL brown bag lunch with Ken Allen, Executive Director of Oregon AFSCME Council 75. Mr. Allen will discuss the challenges facing local governments and their employees from the union perspective. Oregon AFSCME Council 75, represents 140 local unions throughout Oregon.  AFSCME represents over 25,000 workers statewide.

Mr. Allen has 35 years experience in the labor movement. Of those years, 25 have been with Oregon AFSCME as a Council Representative, Assistant Executive Director, Oregon AFSCME’s Chief Negotiator, and over eighteen years as the Executive Director.

Currently Mr. Allen serves on the State of Oregon AFL-CIO Executive Board as a vice president.  Mr. Allen was also appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to sit on the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange Board.

In July of 2012, Ken Allen was re-elected as an AFSCME International Vice President representing the Northwest Region.

Mr. Allen has served on many committees for the International Union; the Committee of the Future, Health Care Committee, Training Committee, Organizing Committee and Jurisdictions Committee.

The event will take place at the AFSCME Union Hall located at 6025 E. Burnside Street Portland, OR 97215. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of street parking.

This event will not be catered, so you are encouraged to bring your own lunch. Coffee and tea will be available. You can RSVP to oregonelgl@gmail.com. A $3 payment for members and $6 for non-members is required to reserve a spot.
