The Southwest branch of ELGL, in partnership with the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT), will be gathering next week in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for the 1st Annual ELGL Pop-Up Conference. The overall theme for the conference will focus on resiliency in the municipal arena – political, financial, economical, technological, and structural – while closing on a note of personal resilience in the face of adversity. Immediately following the conference, attendees are encouraged to join the social mixer occurring at the Grand Hall.

The Honorable Fred Hill
Fred Hill spent twenty years in Texas House of Representatives representing Richardson, TX, and parts of Dallas and Garland. During his time in the Legislature, he served as Chairman, House Committee on Local Government Ways and Means; Chairman, House Committee on Urban Affairs; Served sixteen years on House Committee on Transportation; and was a member of the Legislative Budget Board which is made up of the most senior members of both legislative houses.
Since leaving the legislature worked with numerous Texas cities and counties on legislative issues and discusses the upcoming Texas Legislative Session and the fight that Texas cities have ahead of them to retain local control.[/vc_column_text][vc_media_grid item=”mediaGrid_SlideOutCaption” grid_id=”vc_gid:1476741114872-c3ac2cfc-4079-2″ include=”237063″][vc_column_text]

Theresa O’Donnell
Theresa O’Donnell serves as the Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Dallas. In this role, Ms. O’Donnell leads the development and implementation of a robust Resilience Strategy for the City of Dallas within the policy framework of the 100 Resilient Cities Program and Global Network, pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation.
Theresa will discuss the 100 Resilient Cities program, her efforts to achieve regional resiliency in the DFW area, and how cities – no matter the size – can become more resilient.

Leonard Martin
Leonard worked his way through city management positions in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. A self-described “change agent,” Martin was named city manager of Carrollton in August 2001. He has been recognized as City Manager of the Year in both Missouri and Oklahoma and received the American Society of Public Administration Administrator of the Year Award for the State of Oklahoma.
