We are pleased to announce the eight nationwide campuses that ELGL will visit as part of the #ELGLInspire program, plus special partnerships to bring these programs to campuses in Wisconsin and Texas.

#ELGLInspire is a unique program that brings local government practitioners onto college campuses to share their fields of work with students.

The diversity of local government jobs – from accountants, to librarians, to elected officials – is celebrated and shared to remind students that no matter their degree path, there’s a career in local service available to them.

ELGL solicited interest from college campuses nationwide to produce eight programs during the 2019-20 school year and narrowed the selected campuses to these eight. Final dates are currently being selected.

  • September, Pepperdine University
  • October, University of North Dakota
  • November, University of Georgia
  • November, University of Maryland, College Park
  • January, Johnson C. Smith University
  • February, Colorado State University – Pueblo
  • March, Clemson University
  • April, Rochester Institute of Technology

ELGL paid special attention to bring these programs to states that have not yet hosted an #ELGLInspire program. We also prioritized bringing #ELGLInspire to a HBCU, and will partner with community and technical colleges for attendance at the events.

In addition, we are pleased to continue our partnership with the Texas City Management Association (TCMA) to bring up to six #ELGLInspire programs to colleges in Texas. ELGL will assist TCMA with these events, and Tristan Gideon from the Texas Municipal League will produce events on Texas campuses. Please contact Tristan if you want to bring an #ELGLInspire to a Texas campus.

We will also work with Zach Navin to bring #ELGLInspire events to campuses in Wisconsin. Under Zach’s leadership, we are currently finalizing which campuses the #ELGLInspire program will visit, keeping in mind geographic diversity and ensuring that all campuses have the chance to learn about local government careers.

If you live near any of these campuses and would like to participate in the #ELGLInspire event, please contact Kirsten Wyatt.

Thank you for all of the support that ELGL members provide to #ELGLInspire events. They’re meaningful and important, and will hopefully inspire the next generation of local government leadership.
