ELGL is proud to announce Patrick Quinton, Executive Director for the Portland Development Commission will be the guest speaker at our meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The luncheon will be held in the PDC’s Commission Room located at 222 NW 5th Avenue, Portland 97209, first floor, Commission Room. Patrick will be speaking on economic development issues in the Portland area.

Bio for Patrick Quinton
Patrick Quinton, Executive Director for the Portland Development Commission, is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the city’s urban renewal and economic development agency.
As PDC’s Business and Industry Team Manager, Mr. Quinton led the team that developed the city’s first economic development strategy in 15 years, which sets the ambitious goal of creating the most sustainable local economy in the world. He also played a critical role in the formation of the Portland Seed Fund.
Prior to leading the B&I team, Mr. Quinton managed the 402-acre North Macadam Urban Renewal Area on Portland’s south waterfront which includes the award winning RiverPlace project and the new South Waterfront District.
Mr. Quinton joined PDC in January 2008, following 19 years in the banking and commercial finance industries. Mr. Quinton spent eight years at Textron Financial Corporation providing financing to small and mid-sized companies in various industry sectors, including health care, energy, technology and telecommunications. Mr. Quinton also spent eight years at ShoreBank Corporation, where he specialized in financing small businesses and promoting economic growth in underinvested neighborhoods. He worked for the federal government on two occasions; he started his career at Housing and Urban Development staffing housing finance programs, and later worked for Treasury helping to establish the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund to invest in banks and other institutions that specialize in economic development and community revitalization.
Mr. Quinton earned a bachelor’s degree in Government from Dartmouth College and a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
In addition to his work at PDC, Mr. Quinton currently serves on the Launch Board for the Portland State University Entrepreneurship Center and he is on the board of the Northeast United Soccer Club.
