We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging people to join the planning committee for #ELGL22, ELGL’s annual conference, this year held as a hybrid event online and in-person in Phoenix, Arizona on October 13 and 14.
Planning Committee Roles:
- Set overall conference theme/concept
- Determine session tracks or themes
- Brainstorm session topics and titles
- Finalize session content/learning objectives
- Brainstorm and invite speakers
- Amplify and share event marketing and outreach
- Help with day-of facilitation, engagement, and to-do list items
Expectation of Planning Committee Members:
- You will attend the conference either in-person or virtually on October 13 and 14
- Almost all planning is done via email and shared docs/spreadsheets; so committee members should have proficiency in working in shared documents
- Attend periodic Zoom meetings; all meetings will be recorded in case schedules do not allow live attendance
- Clear deadlines for key deliverables will be set and should be met by all committee members
- We are looking for people with an abundance of curiosity and creativity, a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get involved in all aspects of event planning (e.g. you might be organizing the keynote speaker AND attaching name tags to lanyards the night before the event…)
Other Benefits:
- Chance to plan the local government conference you’ve always dreamed of attending
- Resume/LinkedIn experience planning a large scale event
- Chance to connect with other planning committee members and make new friends
