Join us for a free webinar geared for emerging local government leaders looking at landing their dream job. Find out what the local government employment landscape looks like and what local government employers are looking for in the dream candidates. Participants will hear from experts including an executive recruiter, public administration educator and city administrator. Speakers will talk about what employers are looking for as well as what prospective employees want in their career.

Meet the Speakers

Bob Harrison, City Administrator, City of Issaquah

bob harrisonBob has been the City Administrator of Issaquah, WA since 2010 and holds a master’s in public administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaulkee, a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University. He has worked in city management for the last 21 years and before Issaquah he was the city manager for Wyoming, Ohio, a suburb north of Cincinnati. (Source)

Marissa Karras, Vice President, Karras Consulting

Marissa karrasMarissa has extensive experience in the areas of executive recruitment and compensation. As a project manager for Karras Consulting during the past seven years, she has played a key role in leading executive searches, career transition services, employee counseling and developing compensation strategy. Prior to joining Karras Consulting, she was a public relations and marketing director in the high tech industry. She has also worked in human resources for both the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. (Source)

Stephen Buxbaum, Mayor, City of Olympia & Adjunct Professor, Evergreen State College MPA Program

buxbaumStephen was first elected to the City Council in November 2009 and was selected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in April 2010. In November 2011, he was elected by the voters to a four year term as Mayor. He brings more than thirty years of public and non-profit management experience, focused on community and economic development. While prioritizing City Council service, Stephen operates a consulting business and teaches part time in the Evergreen State College Masters of Public Administration program. (Source)
