New Sensation with Aaron Bogle, City of Beaverton, Neighborhood Program Project Specialist

Posted on May 1, 2013

Since ELGL is not a big fan of icebreakers and since we would rather not know what animal you want to be, this blog feature will serve as a means of introducing new members. While you won’t learn about their favorite animal, you will learn about their ideal Sunday morning, which dead people would they FaceTime with, and which song best describes their life.

Background Check on Aaron

Aaron recently accepted a position with the City of Beaverton as a Neighborhood Program Project Specialist, providing assistance to the Neighborhood and Community Services department.

In July 2011, he went through the City of Beaverton’s International Sustainability Leadership Project, a three week program bringing together 25 young adults from Beaverton, and 25 young adults from Germany, Russia, France, South Korea and Taiwan to learn about sustainable business practices in the region. He learned through guest speakers and site visits about how local and regional businesses are making changes to be more sustainable. The project culminated in presentations from groups of the participants to the Mayor and the Mayors of the sister cities of Beaverton.

Q&A with Aaron

Tell us about three projects that you are working on.

I am working on outreach for the upcoming City Update events with Mayor Doyle, where residents of Beaverton have a chance to come out to a neighborhood meeting and get an update on the city and their neighborhood straight from the Mayor. It’s a great opportunity for people to interact with the Mayor, ask questions and learn more about what is happening in their city. There are three City Update events in May so I’ve been busy running around town dropping off posters and flyers!

Service to Beaverton Awards are another project I’m currently working on. The awards exist to recognize citizens who have made positive contributions to the city. There are several categories so I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, making sure I get the word out to all the right people. If you know someone who should be nominated, fill out a nomination form today!

I’m also working with the Beaverton Neighborhood Association Committees, or NACs for short. The NACs are a great way for people to keep up to date on the goings on at city hall and to send feedback to the city when they have a suggestion or idea. I’m trying to get eleven different groups to all agree on logo designs so I can get them tee shirts printed up in the next month and a half on top of everything else. We’ll see how that goes!

(Complete the sentence) Before I die I want to…make a positive impact on the world around me. And skydive. In a tuxedo.
