A note from Chris Workman of Veneta….

By way of follow-up to today’s inaugural ELGL Eugene meeting:

We did introductions, total of 14 in attendance, about half were current ELGL members.

  • 5 from Lane County
  • 4 local government professions (Eugene, Springfield, Junction City, Veneta)
  • 1 professional from UO
  • 4 UO grad students
  • Jeff Towery, president of OCCMA came and pledged support from both OCCMA and City of Springfield.

Discussed future meeting dates, times, locations, format: agreed to try for 3rd Thursday as a general rule. Jeff offered to have Springfield host the next meeting, tentatively scheduled for June 21st. He will work with Jenn from Lane Co. on narrowing down a topic. Jenn will build and sent out an online survey to the group about possible topics to be discussed at future meetings.

I captured email addresses of everyone present, so I’ll work with Jenn at putting the survey together and then sending it out to those who attended today and the others that have expressed interest in the group. I’ll send more info on the tentative June 21st meeting as it formalizes.

Thank you again for your support in our efforts down south. I believe we have the makings for a successful network and a lot of potential for growth.
