Big thanks to MRSC and Socrata for partnering with us to put on a great webinar on Open Data last week! We got to hear from three cities in the State of Washington about how they are using big data and what it takes to start a big data initiative. Below is a recap from MRSC and a recording of the webinar.
Learning from Local Government Data Initiatives in Washington
Harnessing the power of data is a growing trend in government. Many believe that successfully compiling and sharing government data offers one of the biggest opportunities to reinvent government operations and make them more responsive to citizen needs.
However, those in the business also know that starting a big data initiative is a daunting task. What are the time and resource requirements? What stakeholders need to be involved? How do you make sure it is accessible to citizens? How do you maintain momentum?
In this webinar we dive into all of these logistics with the help of three local government innovators from Washington that have led data initiatives in their jurisdictions. They will explain the processes they went through to get their initiatives up and running, and most importantly, share lessons they learned from their experiences. If you’re thinking about starting a data initiative or have one underway, this will be a great chance to pick the brains of those that have already been through it.
This webinar was cosponsored by MRSC, Socrata, and ELGL.
