Citizen Engagement Wizardry: How to use proactive and targeted engagement to solve problems, make smarter decisions and simplify your job – all by getting the right input from the right residents at the right time.

Public input and proactive engagement can improve services, support better decision-making, and solve problems faster. Or, it can waste resources, lead to poor decisions, and create problems. What you get depends on how you engage people and how you manage the input you get.

What are the issues in your community that you want to solve by having the right feedback from your residents? And how are you planning to roll out your engagement strategy?

In this cohort, you’ll learn everything you need to know about public input and proactive engagement—when you need it, what you need, how to get it, and what to do with it. You’ll also learn how to filter out misleading and manipulative input.

You’ll learn from simple examples and walk away with frameworks and checklists that make you a functional expert immediately. You’ll gain exposure to state-of-the-art tools and techniques from AI chatbots to automated surveys. Plus, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the how and why that you can share with colleagues to build allies and convince others of the incredible value of good input.

Most importantly we’ll work with you to accomplish a goal that you choose. Bring your own challenge or project from work and we’ll guide you through it. Alternately, pick a stock goal like creating a public input plan or doing a public engagement assessment. At the end of the cohort, you’ll have an opportunity to share your success and learn from others’ projects.

This cohort is ideal for anyone interested in making better decisions using public input.
