Before you leave for #ELGL17, what’s the biggest project facing you at work?
We’ve been busy working on the rollout of our new Goals strategic planning product. Our simple-to-use software allows for easy configuration of goals, strategies, objectives, metrics and results. The Goals product is the vision for the community and our Meetings product is the execution of the vision. What I’m most excited about is that it offers the option for government organizations to benchmark successful projects and initiatives to other communities.
Window, middle, or aisle – which is your preferred seat on an airplane?
Definitely aisle.
When I think of Detroit, I think about…
What else? Eminem. I also think the history of the city is fascinating—the prosperous years, the massive flight, and now, some serious rebuilding. I’m excited to check the city out; I’ve heard there are some great things going on up there.
What’s the best article or book that you’ve read about Detroit?
I’ll be honest—I haven’t read a whole lot about the city. I know that I’ve seen a lot of articles over the years about the decline, and, more recently, the comeback. Your question inspired me to do a quick Google search, though, and I came across this one from last year on National Geographic, which I thought was pretty interesting:
Detroit is the home of ‘Motown’. If you started a Motown group, what would you name it?
Ummmm…’The Shumways?’ Clearly I’ve never thought about starting a band, so I gotta start simple. I guess I could go with ‘The Dougies,’ but I think that’s also a dance, so it might confuse people. Or it might just make me more famous more quickly.
Who is the most famous person in your cell phone contacts?
Ok, you’re really calling me out on the pop culture here….I don’t have any famous people in my contacts. Who knows? Maybe I’ll meet Eminem when I come to Detroit. That happens a lot, right?
What question(s) should we have asked?
Hmmm. Chicken, Steak or veggie for lunch?
