ELGL is co-hosting the hottest social event at #ICMA16 in Kansas City, MO – the Sunday evening BBQ Mix & Mingle. When I think of Kansas City, I think about… Bo Jackson breaking a baseball bat over his massive thighs.

The biggest issue facing local government is… Based on several weeks of practical experience…I would say adapting to the macroeconomy and finding creative and efficient ways to improve communities through project work. Trying to eliminate the lag between people requesting and wanting amenities and the ability to provide those amenities.

My pro tip for getting the most out of professional conferences… Grab two plates (or bring an empty KFC bucket) at the start of the buffet line so you can munch for longer without having to re-enter the line 40 seconds later (I like food).

If I had to create a presidential ticket with my top two mentors, I’d select… Dr. David Backes, author and my journalism professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee & Dr. Michael Crooke, former CEO of Patagonia and my professor at University of Oregon (sorry Mom)
