Want to learn about and discuss strategic planning with other ELGLers?
This informal virtual hangout, on February 6th from 5:00-6:00 PM EST, will be an opportunity to share and learn from other folks in the ELGL community about their strategic planning experiences, successes, challenges, and barriers. The goal of this virtual meet-up is to begin the process of creating a support group focused on improving strategic planning across our communities.
Our moderators for the meet-up will be Josh Edwards, Assistant Manager at Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (GA), and Kevin Knutson, of Envisio. Both with extensive experience in local government and strategic planning, they will help facilitate the group and their respective insight and knowledge into the strategic planning process.
We will be limiting this hangout to the first 10 sign-ups. We will send an AnyMeeting link before the meeting. This is free but is open to ELGL members only.
Grab a beer/coffee/tea or your lunch and join us!
About our Moderators:
Josh Edwards is an Assistant Manager at Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (GA). He has worked in local government for over twelve years. Along his career path, whether a Budget Analyst, Strategic Initiatives Manager, or Assistant Manager he has utilized strategic planning and data analysis in improving the four communities he has served. During his time at the City of Durham he led two updates of the organization-wide Strategic Plan. In his newest roll, Josh is focused on finding time to add structure and process to the strategic planning efforts, build a performance management culture, and help his departments develop their strategic planning and implementation skill sets.
Kevin Knutson is the Vice President of Planning & Performance Solutions for Envisio. In that role, he helps local governments implement strategy and track and report performance. Prior to that, he was the Regional Vice President for Management Partners, a local government consulting firm. He was part of a team that implemented quality management practices in Coral Springs that led to the City being the first local government to earn the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Kevin served as interim city manager, assistant city manager, director of the office of management and budget, and director of community relations in Reno, Nevada; and as director of communications and marketing and earlier as budget and strategic planning manager for Coral Springs, Florida.
