Demand anything. Even experienced people joining an organization need to learn the ropes.

Why should an undergraduate student consider a career working in local government?

Working in local government is an opportunity to serve people in such a variety of capacities! You get to work with others who want to serve people and earn a living while making a difference every day; your job matters and contributes to the quality of life in your community. I go home every day with a smile.
