What was the very first paying job you held (that you paid taxes on)?

City of Drayton-Seasonal Laborer

This included things like taring roads, painting curbs, trimming trees and reading water meters.

Drayton Pool-Lifeguard up to Assistant Manager

Served as a lifeguard for 5 years. I trained in new lifeguards, helped with swimming lessons, and assisted with scheduling.

When I was 14-17, I had 2 jobs every summer break to help save up for college

What was your: undergraduate institution? Graduate institution? What was/were your degree(s) in?

I attended the University of North Dakota (2011-2015) with a BS in Geography.

What’s the best networking advice for job seekers you’ve heard or shared?

Be yourself, smile and simply try to make a new friend. This takes the pressure off and allows you to be yourself.

What’s the fastest way to NOT get a job or internship with you? (e.g. what should potential applicants avoid doing if they were to ever interview with you for a position).

Do not show up late. If you are going to be late for the interview who’s to say that you are going to show up on time for work.

Why should an undergraduate student consider a career working in local government?

Meaningful and challenging work to make a difference in your community.
