Weekly Update: Diversity Dashboard, CivicPRIDE, Board Retreat

Posted on July 2, 2017

Dear ELGL members,

It’s a short-ish week! We’ll be posting lots of patriotic pics this week, especially on Monday when Kent and I have happy hour with ELGL legal expert Dan Bolin in Tigard. Dan is pumped to see the Tigard v. Dolan plaque in downtown Tigard. After we take a ton of selfies in front of it, we’ll go out for happy hour and bore his poor wife silly with local gov chatter.

Also up this week: the first-ever ELGL Board of Directors retreat. We’ll plan for the next year, host a Supper Club in Phoenix, and go to a Diamondbacks game. And probably sweat a lot and tweet about it, too.

Have a great week –

By this time next month, we’ll have all of the participating states compiling data on the race and gender of local government leaders in all jurisdictions. Want to help out? Sign up on DiversityDashboard.org.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”Pop-Up Planning” color=”chino”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]We also had a meeting with the planning teams from Dallas, Portland, Kansas City, and Charlotte about the September 22, 2017 #ELGLPopUp conferences. Agendas will be published tomorrow! Make sure you check them out at ELGL.org to find out which location you want to attend this year! Price is $25 for students, $50 for members, and $75 for non-members (includes membership). We’re also looking for regional sponsors at $500, which includes comped attendance at the conference, All-In membership, and advertising/HR outreach at the events! Email me if you’re interested in having your organization sponsor![/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”Board Retreat” color=”chino”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]We’re going to Phoenix! You know you’re supporting a bare bones organization when the board has their retreat in July in Arizona. I anticipate a lot of time spent in AC during the day and venturing outside after the sun goes down. The board doesn’t know this, but I bought them matching tank tops for the trip.

Oh, and here’s our agenda; please comment on it if you have anything you want the board to discuss during the retreat.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”CivicPRIDE” color=”chino”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

We also locked down details this week for the CivicPRIDE-ELGL event at #ICMA2017. Super excited to partner for the fourth year in a row on this awesome event; and this year, we’re hosting this event in partnership with SeeClickFix! Pre-registration is required and we’ll be in the same location as the other state receptions on the Monday night of the conference. Register online here: https://civicpride2017.eventbrite.com[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”True Local Gov Stories Told Live” color=”chino”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

We’re hosting another ICMA-ELGL mixer at #ICMA2017 in San Antonio! This year, we’re doing a “Moth” themed event (similar to our featured event at #ELGL15 in Portland). Please register online when you sign up for #ICMA2017 or use this link. We also want people to sign up in advance to tell their story at this event, so check the box and get ready to tell your story! (Hint: this may also result in swag, fame, and fortune…)…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
